i was so busy since november last year, this post was meaning to be publish and i was totally forgot about it. having rearranging my thought while rearranging my house after so many getaways, being totally at home and taking things slowly always mean to be good. and because this is a cool sunday morning, i guess i should post something beautiful :)
so elia from simalakamma made this program at the end of december 2011 of touring the silk road of jogja: jalan solo. jalan solo is famous of their indian shops selling various kind of fabrics. the long history of jalan solo started in the 80s where most of the indian shops move here from malioboro street. now it become one of the most busiest street in jogja where they have many shops which you can see clearly still dominated by indian fabric shops.
this event is part of the des indes orientales project. me being in the “temple team” and for this event to do live tweeting for the “fabric team”. it was an exciting tour. it was limited to only 15 participant and run for two days. we started at prima shop at the end of jalan solo, then took the becak to rama gordyn, across to parissa and wijaya shop at the end.
the most coolest thing is that for the event, the team made advertisement recording for the shops, in three languages: indonesian, english and javanese. it was done using our friends voices and was so funny. moki made screen printing of the each shop history for the shop plastic bag limited editions. everyone was so happy, we had some bargain on fabrics. i treated myself some. we should do something like this again XD
