Astrid Reza has been writing since she is 16 years old. Being born in Australia in 1983 to an Indonesian parents, making her very diverse upbringing in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, a memorable experience. She is educated both in Australian high school and Indonesian universities. She studied both history and photography in her higher study. She travels throughout her lives and work. Though, she is now based herself in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, you can find her roaming in parts of South Asia.
In her early student days, she co-created Bumimanusia.org with Eka Kurniawan, Puthut EA and Linda Christanty. With the same circle, they joined Akademi Kebudayaan Yogyakarta and created an alternative literary media, ON/OFF and also the AKY Press. She work as a translator for various publications and events. Some of her writings published in different media in various Indonesian publication, anthologies and also overseas. She made creative writing curriculum and used to teach creative writings classes for Gadjah Mada University in the History and English departments.
